Our own albums include Homespun (2018), Flotsam (2013), and Sagging Pockets, Labelled Jars, Old Tobacco Tins (self-released in 2008 wrapped in hand printed tissue paper). Previous Alula Down releases include work with other artists, including contributions to J acken Elswyth’s Betwixt & Between tape collections and Sproatly Smith’s Weirdshire compilations (‘Hereford Garden Dreaming’ on Beating the Bounds, 2015, and ‘Grace Lies Down’ on Burning the Bush, 2017). In May 2020 during early pandemic lockdowns we released a limited edition vinyl single on Future Grave – that sold out in 3 hours ( wrap your hills around our absence). Postcards from Godley Moor, Summer 2020 was The Guardian’s Folk Album of the month for August 2020.

Alula music series#

Other releases over 2020 – 2021 were Postcards from Godley Moor, a series of 4 seasonal albums. These incorporated lo-fi tracks that collage local field recordings, traditional & original songs, and semi-improvised instrumentals.

A contribution to the compilation Future Folk: Friendly Faces Different Spaces was released on the Slow Music Movement label on April 15th 2021 ( Sir Orfeo), and subsequently became The Guardian’s Folk Album of the Month for May 2021.
